History and development

21 Bishopton Lane has a long history as a dental practice with some patients remembering many dentists over the last 60 years or so. It has seen many changes in this time, surgeries have moved around and for some time it had its own dental lab on site.

In the last few years it has seen a period of refurbishment, with both surgeries modernised and a new sterilisation room installed. Staff have seen their facilities improved with a new office and staff room, creating places to have meetings, do essential training and occasionally relax! There are also new changing facilities to give staff a proper place to change in to their uniforms, which were introduced in 2011.

The modernisation has continued with other rooms upstairs being brought up to date and this program will continue so that the waiting room, reception and other public areas of the practice will receive the same treatment.

With all the modernisation, we are striving to improve both comfort and energy efficiency, with double glazing and  using LED and other efficient lighting options.

Staff and treatments

It is not just the fixtures and fittings that have been improved, the range of treatments available has never been greater, see our page on private dental treatment, and the number of patients we can treat has been increased with the introduction of our therapists, LisaRichardson on thursdays and fridays  and Flora Roberts on Mondays and Tuesdays . We offer full NHS treatment to all patients.

This has also seen the staff grow and the practice is proud to be working with local training colleges to help apprentices on their way to careers in dental nursing and beyond.

All staff on reception are either dental nurses or have had nursing experience which we feel gives them a greater understanding of appointment requirements, ensuring our patients needs are met to the best standards.

We have a large existing patient base, many of whom have been coming for over a decade, but we try to take on as many new patients a year as we can, though we have to consider the waiting time for appointments. There is a waiting list for when we are not taking on new patients and we always try and see emergencies, whether they are registered with us or not.

Please note that we only make same day emergency appointments, ring at 9am to see what appointments are available that day. If we are unable to see you we can provide other contact numbers.

We currently do not have facility to treat wheelchair users, as both surgeries are upstairs.

"just wanted to rate 5 stars on trust pilot , me not being a face book user, no way of praising staff and efficiency. Excellent practice. Brilliant" by Mr James Lauder on 5/10/18

"A wonderfully succinct, clear explanation of all dental treatment plans. Caring and inviting environment that puts you at ease. Careful, methodical and professional dentist with experience. Currently in the process of recommending to all I know, thank you for such a high quality and understanding service."

"As someone who suffers from Dentophobia I was put at my ease at the initial check up, although I would say I was looking forward to my second visit(quite the opposite)I was once again treated with gentle care. I had to have two roots removed after my teeth had broken off and another tooth removed, this was painless even the injection, after the application of magic cream to the gums. I still have quite a bit of treatment to go, but I'm less apprehensive about my future visits because of the treatments already received. I only wish there had been Dentists like Dr Allen when I was younger I might not of suffered from Dentophobia for all these years."
